Bird’s Eye View

We have witnessed and experienced the beauty of the Cape Peninsula from land, admired it while out at sea and marvelled at the incredible views from various mountain tops, but to see this grand city from the skies, is to discover the city as you’ve never seen it before. This is a memory worth making where sightseeing reaches new heights, in an incomparable experience that is unimaginable from the ground.

Scenic flights such as the Two Oceans Flight, Full Peninsula Tour and world famous Robben Island Flight, can give you a chance to see things from the air and scope out those famous landmarks from a different perspective.  Once inside your helicopter, you will be handed headphones, which allow you to still communicate with your pilot. The excitement builds up, as you watch the Peninsula grow smaller and smaller, the higher you climb.

Taking a turn over Groot Constantia, our beautiful Table Mountain and then over the bustling City bowl. The Cape Point tour is just one of the ultimate tour options. You will experience the Peninsula in all her glory from Camps Bay which is located at the foot of Table Mountain, Lion’s Head and of course the renowned Twelve Apostles mountain range which stands statuesque against the vivid blue backdrop of the Cape Town sky. Drift on over to Noordhoek beach, flanked by Chapman’s Peak and her surrounding ocean. Pods of Dolphins and the occasional Seal can be seen dancing amongst the rolling waves. Cross over to False Bay, Kommetjie and along the vast stretches of Sun Valley and over Simon’s Town, Kalk Bay, Muizenberg and more!

A Robben Island helicopter tour, where South Africa’s former president Nelson Mandela was imprisoned, offers an unrivalled experience that lets you see this amazing island in a way unimaginable from the ground. You can choose to do this tour privately or with other passengers for a special shared experience. Fly around the island seeing her epic beauty and head directly to the southern tip of Robben Island and returning to the V&A Waterfront along the picturesque Blouberg coastline.

Now if that is not adventurous enough for you, why not take a Combat Mission Flight in a Huey. The Huey helicopters were extensively used in the military and are generally considered to be the most widely used helicopter in the world. Easily identifiable by their thundering sound and iconic shape, playing a predominant role in several Hollywood blockbusters such as Apocalypse Now, M.A.S.H, Full Metal Jacket and Platoon. You’ll get to enjoy a white-knuckle experience during a Simulated Combat Flight with the wind rushing in through open doors, and ground-hugging manoeuvres your pilot makes all adding to the thrill.

For the less adventurous there is also a selection of scenic private flights over the glorious Cape winelands. These of course are just as enjoyable landing at either Delaire Graff Estate – Lanzerac – Slaley or Tokara Estate for a leisurely lunch and some wine tasting. A great romantic tour if you want to surprise that someone special.

Come fly in one on one of the many Cape Town Helicopters tours and fall in love with our beautiful city. Let the beauty of Cape Town take your breath away!
